starkca3 answered: what are you looking for in a first interview?

I’m looking for people who have a job that they enjoy in urban planning or related fields, or people who studied within those fields and are using that knowledge in surprising ways.

I think a lot of planning students only hear about one kind of job possibility (planner within the city government) and mostly hear about the negative experiences they have (if they hear anything at all.) I’d like to discover and share stories of people with more positive experience and/or different sorts of jobs.  And I know there are a few people on here who aren’t in planning but are considering it, so it might be especially useful for them.

If you or anyone else is willing to volunteer to be interviewed, or have a suggestion for someone I should try to contact, or any other sort of request- please, send me an @ask or an email (yescaptainplanit at gmail). Thanks! :)

We are mostly students and young professionals in city planning and related fields, right? Right.

So, I am going to start posting like it. I have a few ideas already, but are there any issues, questions or topics that you guys are interested in?

I’m already planning on doing some interviews with professionals in the field (what would you like to ask them?), and perhaps some reviews on various planning programs and guest posts about first jobs and internship experiences. Let me know if you are interested in contributing to any of those as well.

Thanks!
